Early Years - Senior Pastor Beverley Beckford
Senior Pastor Beverley Beckford and the members of Miracle Praise Ministries, formally City of Praise (Praise International Fellowship), have been praying that the Lord would expand the ministry. As a young girl, Pastor recalls going to the alter on a few occasions but finally, at age 13, she decided to give her heart to Christ. She recalls her first miracle after being baptised, Snr. Pastor had suffered insomnia, but the same night she got baptised was the first night she enjoyed peaceful sleep. Prior to that, insomnia affected her so badly that her hands would shake in the day if she was hungry or tired. That night, however, she received two miracles, healing from insomnia and the nerves issues. She learned to read more of the bible and cultivate a relationship with God.
As Pastor's family moved to Bamboo, in St. Ann, her mother inquired about a New Testament Church within that location. Upon receiving blessings from their home church Pastor, the family attended this church and Pastor Beckford became actively involved in church life. Activities included being a part of a singing group, but occasionally she was allowed to preach. She was finally appointed as Youth Fellowship President, FTH Secretary and Sunday School teacher. She also participated in the planning of Vacation Bible School, (VBS) and Fasting Services. It was during those times that she recognised that there was a calling in her life even though it was a rough time.
Eventually, Pastor Beckford moved to Angels Estate, where she attended City of Praise and eventually assumed ministerial duties, She recalls her journey from being ordained as a deaconess, to now leading the church as Senior Pastor. The experience was very challenging, but the calling upon her life made it difficult to say no. She realised that the call was never about her, but about God, and she is grateful for all that He has done for her.
Fundamental Belief and The Vision for Miracle Praise Ministries
Pastor Beckford believes that God wants the church to evangelise and to follow in Christ's footsteps to get souls ready for the Kingdom. Just doing the work of God, loving His people and working in accordance with His will gives her great satisfaction. "There are a lot of plans in the making and you might be faced with limited resources you must keep the plans at the forefront of your mind, pray about them and live your dreams".
